The Avenue at Nork ParkThe picture of the "avenue" was taken, I am pretty sure, in 1897, and I assume it was a souvenir that Constance brought back from her time there. I believe it was brought to the USA as a souvenir by Constance Dalziel when she and her father, Murray Dalziel, returned home after visiting in 1907. I believe the notation, "Avenue at Nork Park," is in Constance's handwriting. This picture was in Murray Dalziel's scrapbook when he died in 1942 in Jackson Michigan, USA.
I am somewhat puzzled about exactly where this picture was taken. I have only been to Nork Park once. This avenue leads up to the right front (facing the house).

The gate pillars at the end of The Drive are too close together to be the ones in the picture. And also they are in the wrong orientation in relation to where Nork House was. So i can't quite work out why they are there.
Note from LNW: Have you looked at picture #391 which may be part of the answer. See also picture #573 which expands on the entrance to the Drive from Nork Park Hill and has more information about the various pillars.

The avenue was a pathway used for horses at the time and the gate post are submerged by over grown shrub

I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that these posts were moved to their current position, just as a kind of memorial to the mansion that was once here. I believe they were originally at the very end of The Drive - the road that goes out onto the A217. The Drive is named as such because it used to lead to the house, and the trees planted on either side of the straight road follow the original one

I can't believe they've been moved so must be in their original position?
