Walton and Tadworth Home Guard

This is a picture of the Walton and Tadworth Home Guard, at a training session on the common near the Duke’s Head and the Blue Anchor (dated estimated).
My grandfather Alfred James Funnell, (1902-1985), is on the right with a cross above his head. Grandad was living in School Lane, Walton at the time, as an ‘older man’ he wasn’t called up until later during the war, then serving in the Royal Artillery at Dover, and ending up in Germany. Unfortunately, I do not know the names of the other men.

Note from LNW: Added on behalf of Rosemary Westerman.
