Banstead Village

I was at the Banstead childrens hospital, when I was eleven, for 3 months in 1963. i had a fantastic time there (like something out of a childrens adventure film) and cried when my parents finally took me home, back to Dagenham

In September 1966 I started my student children nurse training here. 3 months of training and then on the wards at The Queen Elizabeth Children’s Hospital, Hackney rd. London E2. I returned to Banstead for 3 or 4 months each year for the next 3 years. Very happy memories but very hard work and sometimes upsetting events with some sick children
