VE day celebrations Ferndale Rd Banstead

This is another photo taken in Ferndale Road during VE celebrations. It belonged to my in-laws, the Nicholsons, who lived at No. 42.

Note from LNW: Dear Marie(?) Due to system issues, your full name and email address have been lost. If you add them to a new comment, I can include them if you wish. Also is that the whole photo or is there a bit missing? . . .
Peter Denton has pointed out that we have a 'then and now' compilation of the same photo at picture #535

I think you are right - there is more to the photo. I'm sure there will be a lot of people who remember that day - I know I have another photo which includes Christine and Marie Pallant, Sheila Copsey, Jean Bellows and Mary Ball, all of whom I was at school with. I now live in Winchester.

Marie, I remember you being married to Roy our next door neighbour in Ferndale Road. I believe our Mum and Roy's Mum were good friends.

Hi Pat, Yes, I remember that the families were good friends; even when your parents moved away we went to see them. Wrong brother though - I was married to Les for 60 years.

Hi Marie,so sorry for the mistake. It's good to hear from someone from Banstead. I have been hoping to find my friend Jean Miles who lived at number 17 I think! We were good friends for years but lost touch after we married and left Banstead. She married a soldier and I married a sailor!! We live in Southampton now. I think her mum is in the front row in the photo.

Hello Christine, thank you for your interesting item.I do remember you as you lived just across the road.We were no.40. Yes that was their names. Jean married a soldier and had a baby boy,but we lost touch. Do you know if Jean still lives locally? I believe her Mum is at the front of the photo, a small lady on the right hand side. I would love to hear from you again if you find any more details.
Thank you.
Pat
