Court Road, Banstead - and a speedy delivery!

A 1908 postcard view of Court Road in Banstead, taken (I believe) from the Holly Lane end looking towards Avenue Road.

The postcard is addressed to a correspondent in Dresden, Germany, and note the postmarks – posted in Epsom at 4pm on August 6th; received in Dresden two days later on the 8th! That was years before an Air Mail service was introduced, and even with all our present-day technology, who'd put money on such a speedy delivery today?!

Peter, Interesting find. I would say you are correct in that photo is taken just a little way from the junction with Holly Lane just past the lodge. The scene wasn't very different in the late 40's early 50's and easily recognisable. The Court House is on the right.

Although a little different, it is still recognisable as Court road. I went to School at St Ann's school which was where Court House was. Sister Anne Patricia was the head mistress in the late 50s and 60s.
