Banstead Road 100 years+ agoThis card is postmarked 31 Aug 1908 and is simply titled Banstead Road. Assuming that this is the road that now runs between Fir Tree Road and Cheam Road can anyone hazard a guess as to the viewpoint, and the direction in which the camera is pointing?

Looking at Google Streetview, I think you're right with your location - just past the fitness centre. The tree shadows would also be correct for that location. The 6" OS map for that time also shows the location would fit. maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/sidebyside.cfm#zoom=15&lat=51.3369&lon=-0.2291&layers=171&right=BingHyb (what's also interesting to note, but not from the photo, is that many of the field layouts are exactly the same today as they were 100years ago)
It's probably 50 years or more since I travelled along that road.

This is on route from Banstead Station towards Cheam, past the fitness centre on the right but before Beverley Close. There is a clear bend in the road which goes downhill at this point. The location of the lamppost on the left appears to match too.
